The School District of Palm Beach County & The County of Palm Beach both Recognize Caregiving Youth in November with Proclamations
Without the support and recognition of elected officials, this hidden population would go unnoticed. With an estimated 10,000 students youth caregivers in PBC and 1.4 million in the country, we need to continue to identify, support, and provide them with the needed tools to graduate and contribute to society.

AACY appreciates the recognition and opportunity to raise awareness. The next step is to develop the action plan at all the schools for the 2017-2018 school year.

Hearts & Soles is an annual gala to raise awareness about caregiving youth and to honor family caregivers of all ages during National Family Caregivers Month.  According to Connie Siskowski, RN, PhD, President of AACY, "During this special month, it is important to remember that millions of youth also fulfill the caregiving role. In doing so, many sacrifice their education, health, well-being and childhood to provide care for family members who are ill, injured, elderly or disabled."

The event highlighted Keith Byars, Former NFL Pro Bowler, elected officials, and caregiving youth scholarship recipients.
